I would ask you to have only a light meal, and avoid, if at all possible, taking pain killers shortly before seeing me. Also, it is a good idea to wear loose clothing.
I will ask a series of questions about your medical health and carry out tests to help me understand what type of injury you have and how I can best help you. It usually takes 10 minutes, the next 30 – 40 minutes I will focus on providing therapy with the aim to eliminate or reduce your pain or discomfort. We will discuss a follow-up plan towards the end of your appointment.
Many patients have a pain-relief following therapy and feel much better the following day. However, the following side-effects may occur following therapy in some patients:
Therapy is like medication and has an impact on the body in many different ways. Most side-effects, if occur, should go away within 72 hrs.
Sometimes it is necessary for patients to undergo rehabilitation or therapy over several weeks or months. This, very much on the nature of the injury and how much therapy input is required. I will be able to advise you on that. Oftentimes, however, my patients feel much better after the first session and receive a rehabilitation program to complete in their own time, at home.
