I saw Marek again for an ultrasound steroid injection for my bursitis. He checked through my notes before arranging an appointment making sure this was ok. When I arrived he was friendly but very professional. He checked where my pain was and whilst injecting me kept asking how I was. After the procedure we chatted about alternative procedures for the future which was good. Would definitely recommend Marek

In extreme pain following a rheumatic flare I desperately searched in vain for a steroid injection to my wrist through various NHS providers. In desperation I contacted Physio-Soton and was seen the next day. The service and results were second to none. I received an Ultrasound guided steroid injection and felt immediate relief and the joint has got better each day since. As most people under rheumatology know getting help quickly is almost impossible so this service is a lifeline for those in severe pain and I could not recommend it highly enough. Going from 10/10 pain to mild discomfort in the space of a day is remarkable and Physio-Soton will be the first port of call in future. I am forever grateful for the level of service and clinical expertise.

Personally I've often been sceptical of reaching of for scans or therapy work due to poor past experiences, however I can say upon visiting Marek this is one of the few places I've been that offer a great service. Clear and direct feedback with open communication made the appointment flow smoothly. I'd highly recommend for anyone who's got some niggles or injures that just don't seem to be healing and you need to know/understand what's going on. ****** 6 stars as google only offers 5.

Had a same week appointment with Marek to have an ultrasound on my ankle where I had concerns of a long ongoing achilles complaint. Marek was very thorough in his assessment and recommended exercises to help relieve. He also provided a thorough report and copies of the scans to share with my GP and NHS specialist I am under. Would definitely recommend

I would highly recommend Marek. He’s very professional and approachable. I went to see him with shoulder pain. He did an ultrasound and then administered an injection. Went through everything really well so I knew what to expect during and after the procedure. I will definitely be seeing him again.

I initially saw Marek after suffering a sporting injury to my right bicep, elbow and shoulder. He was referred to me by my chiropractor as I was keen to get an ultrasound as quickly as possible. Marek offered me a next day appointment and spent an hour conducting a full and thorough ultrasound of the soft tissue and joints in the affected areas. He was very reassuring and professional, taking his time to explain everything clearly and making sure I understood what he diagnosed. I left feeling much happier and with a clear understanding of what I needed to do to recover. A second follow up appointment built on the first, more reassurance and new exercises to help build up strength and confidence. Overall I would highly recommend Marek. He is calm, reassuring, professional and patient. Thank you!

Extremely happy and impressed. For context, I am a 21 year old male who contacted Marek due to acromioclavicular joint issues due to weightlifting. He was able to book me in a few days from my phone call with him. All my questions were answered in a detailed and informative manner, and the aftercare was great as he phoned me later in the day after reviewing my ultrasound images. The most important thing to note is his moral integrity which I was so surprised with due to how many people are today. Because of my issue I thought I would need a joint injection, however he said for my case this would be unnecessary and potentially delay healing. This is surprising as many practitioners these days would advise having the injection merely to make a buck off of me. I really respect this honesty and truthfulness. Thanks very much.

Excellent experience with Marek at Physio-Soton. I came in with a long-running Achilles problem and he took a proper history, reviewed my training, tested the tendon thoroughly with Ultrasound — diagnosis, imaging and a clear rehab advice all in one visit. He was honest about what the findings meant for my running rather than telling me what I wanted to hear, and explained everything in plain terms. As a triathlete it's rare to find a physio who is also an MSK sonographer and genuinely understands training load. Highly recommended.

I had an excellent experience with Marek following my car accident. From the initial phone call through to my appointment at the clinic, he was professional, well spoken, and took the time to explain everything clearly, which immediately put me at ease. He carried out a detailed ultrasound scan of my shoulder, and having access to advanced diagnostic equipment within the clinic meant the assessment was thorough and precise. He clearly explained the findings, what they meant, and the treatment options available, giving me a much better understanding of my injury. Marek is highly experienced, exceptionally knowledgeable, and genuinely focused on providing the best care for his patients. His professionalism, expertise, and attention to detail were outstanding. I would highly recommend Marek to anyone looking for an accurate diagnosis and first-class treatment.

Shoulder pain can be incredibly frustrating — especially when you’re doing the right things, but it’s still not improving.

Many people try rest, exercises, or even physiotherapy, yet the pain continues to affect sleep, movement, and daily activities.

So why isn’t it getting better?

At Physio Soton, based in Eastleigh, we regularly see patients from Romsey, Southampton, and Winchester with ongoing shoulder pain — often because the underlying cause hasn’t been clearly identified.

In many cases, we can assess, scan, and treat your shoulder in a single visit — giving you clarity and a clear plan straight away.

Common Reasons Shoulder Pain Persists

1. The Diagnosis Isn’t Clear

Shoulder pain is often treated based on symptoms alone — but without a clear diagnosis, treatment may not target the real problem.

Conditions like:

  • Rotator cuff tears or irritation

  • Subacromial bursitis

  • Shoulder impingement

  • Frozen shoulder

…can feel similar but require different approaches.

👉 Without proper assessment or imaging, it’s easy to treat the wrong issue.

2. Exercises Alone Aren’t Enough

Rehabilitation exercises are important — but they don’t always address inflammation or structural problems.

If pain is driven by:

  • Significant inflammation

  • Tissue irritation

  • Mechanical compression

…then exercises alone may not be enough to settle symptoms.

3. You May Need a Scan

If your symptoms aren’t improving, a scan can provide clarity.

At Physio Soton, we use ultrasound scanning to:

  • Identify the exact structure causing pain

  • Assess tendons and soft tissues in real time

  • Detect inflammation or fluid

  • Guide treatment decisions

👉 A scan removes guesswork and helps ensure the right treatment is chosen.

When to Consider a Shoulder Injection

If your pain is persistent and linked to inflammation, a shoulder injection may help reduce symptoms and improve movement.

Injections are commonly used for:

  • Rotator cuff pain

  • Subacromial bursitis

  • Shoulder impingement

  • Frozen shoulder

  • AC joint pain

How injections help

  • Reduce inflammation

  • Relieve pain

  • Improve mobility

  • Allow more effective rehabilitation

All injections at Physio Soton are performed under ultrasound guidance for accuracy and safety.

Why Accurate Diagnosis Matters

Treating shoulder pain without knowing the exact cause can delay recovery.

A clear diagnosis allows us to:

  • Target the right structure

  • Avoid unnecessary treatments

  • Combine therapies effectively (e.g. injection + rehab)

  • Create a personalised recovery plan

👉 This is why we often combine assessment, scan, and treatment in one visit.

Signs It’s Time to Take the Next Step

You should consider further assessment if:

  • Pain has lasted more than 4–6 weeks

  • Your symptoms aren’t improving with exercises

  • You have night pain or disturbed sleep

  • Movement is limited or painful

  • Pain keeps returning

👉 These are signs that your shoulder may need more than just exercises.

What To Do Next

If your shoulder pain isn’t improving, the most important step is getting a clear diagnosis.

At Physio Soton in Eastleigh, we provide:

  • Specialist shoulder assessment

  • Ultrasound scanning

  • Ultrasound-guided injections

  • Personalised aftercare and rehabilitation

In many cases, we can assess, diagnose, and treat your shoulder in a single visit.

Serving Eastleigh and Surrounding Areas

While our clinic is based in Eastleigh, we regularly see patients travelling from:

  • Romsey

  • Southampton

  • Winchester

  • Chandler’s Ford

  • Hedge End

Many choose us for our specialist expertise and the convenience of having everything done in one place.
